“When serenity and equilibrium prevail,
Not only ideas but dreams come true
And sleep is converted into samadhi.
Generally, the mind is dull and dissipated,
Sometimes it goes in for higher things
But then returns to its lower field.” – Swami Satyananda Saraswati.1960.
How do we become serene?
“God give me the serenity to accept things which cannot be changed; Give me courage to change things which must be changed; And the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.” – Serenity Prayer.
Equilibrium is used so freely by us. How do we develop it?
“We are what our thoughts have made us; So, take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; They travel far.” – Swami Vivekananda.
What do we make of our dreams?
“Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet,
But I being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.” – William Butler Yeats.
I believe that these four quotes tell us all about this.
