Am I, my friend?

What is the definition of friendship? Aristotle describes it a single soul, dwelling in two bodies.

A friend is, as it were a second self. – Cicero

The only way to have a friend is to be one. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Now I am going to surprise you. I am going to ask you questions.

  • Are you friends with yourself?
  • Are you self-compassionate?
  • Are you proud of yourself?
  • Do you have respect for yourself?

Answer truthfully.

To be friends with oneself one must be self-accepting and work on the following qualities.

  • Self-compassion and kindness: Treat yourself gently and do not be judgmental.
  • Intentional Self-Care: Prioritizing your well-being, both mentally and physically and acknowledging that you are your first and last companion.
  • Acceptance and support: Embrace your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Positive Self-talk: Be forgiving in your inner dialogue.
  • Valuing Personal Time: Cultivate your own company and this works on your self-worth and independence.

How hard is it? Being friends with yourself enables you to become resilient and fearless.
