Follow the stars

Star light, star bright.
The first star I see tonight;
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have used the wish I wish tonight.

It is an American nursery rhyme from the early nineteenth century says it all. It conjures up magical images of the stars for us.

We also have words used for successful people like:

  • Pop star, film star, super star, shooting star, lucky star.
  • Then there are idioms with stars in them.
  • Reach for the stars (aim for something very high).
  • Written in the stars (destined to happen).
  • Starry eyed (overly optimistic or dreamy).
  • Be a shining star (outstanding abilities).
  • Shoot for the stars (set your goals high).
  • A star is born, (a new talent or success).
  • See the stars align (everything comes together perfectly),
  • Born under a lucky star (naturally lucky).
  • Thank your lucky stars (be grateful).
  • Like a shooting star (something that is amazing but does not last).
  • Star crossed (unlucky).
  • See stars (to feel dizzy).
  • Hitch your wagon to a star (follow a dream).
