Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that: Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. – Martin Luther King Jr.
Love and affection are the root causes of sorrow. The Supreme Lord said: While you speak words of wisdom, you are mourning for that which is not worthy of grief. The wise lament neither for the living nor for the dead. – Bhagwad Gita 2.11
Swami Satyananda said,
Love is giving, not taking. It is an act of unconditional giving, where you may lose yourself, you may even be completely destroyed. Who knows? In the act, even if you are a loser, it does not matter. But if you only want to be the winner, then it is better the lover is going to be the loser. True love is giving not receiving. True love is the expression of your inner self in the language of sincerity. Love is most difficult to practice but hatred is easy.
You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building a nest in your hair. – Old Chinese proverb
Nothing that grieves us can be called little; by the external laws of proportion a child’s loss of a doll and a king’s loss of a crown are events of the same size. – Mark Twain
Dear ones, we all experience love, grief and loss in our lives. The onus is on us to not dwell on the grief and loss. We have to transfer our thoughts to our innermost fears and set them free. It is our balance of our life force, prana within our breath which enables us. Our sadness flies away on the wings of time.
