Our heart harbours our feelings and emotions. The phrases are all there and we have used them all. Let us start with we all said, when we were in school. Cross my heart and hope to die. It means I will never give up the secret. To lose heart, to feel a sense of hopelessness. To make the heart bleed, it can be taken sarcastically or feeling very touched by some distressing episode. What is a secret? Our eyes light up if someone says that they will tell us a secret. Also if you share a secret then you expect to be told a secret by the person with whom you have shared it. Betraying the trust can also cause unpleasantness for all. Secrets are very hard to keep, and they become a burden for the trustee of the confidence. Continue reading

099 – Do you know your own self

Do you know your own self as well as you know your own house. You know where everything is in place in your home. You know your bookshelves, what is in your kitchen, in your cupboard. When you lay the table, you take the cutlery out of the drawers, place the plates, etc. There is no confusion in your mind. If you invite someone for a meal, you may take out your grandma’s lace tablecloth and your mother’s silver. Your writing desk, what is in the drawers, your files, your clips, stapler, everything is in place. You know where your cheque books are kept, have an idea how much you have in the bank. 090 – Space in my head and heart

This morning I had an argument with my husband. He was complaining that there was no space in the house. He prefers to practice his sadhana downstairs and I practice upstairs. Our home is full of books and they are everywhere. I responded to his remark by saying that you must have space in your heart and head. Space is relative. In my life of teaching Yoga, I have come across many people who are weak willed. It is written and said that we must have a strong will. It is easier said than done. We have a restless mind. BFF. It is an abbreviation for Best Friends Forever. It is a term of endearment. We all have a BFF. Just saying it makes us happy. It brings a smile to our faces. 027 – Our feelings are expressed through the heart

To experience the love of God, we have to experience neutrality of our feelings. We have to learn to be non-reactive and non judgemental. Our feelings comprise love, hate, passion, jealousy, anger, greed, gratitude and sacrifice. Our feelings are felt but not seen. They influence us and play with our emotions. Sometimes we are obsessed by them and then they influence our behaviour. They encourage our thoughts to multiply. Continue reading
