Tale 7 – Tigers are family

A story from Madhya Pradesh, where Tigers are family.

There are many stories of tigers befriending men in Ancient India. Among the Baiga tribals the story takes a turn. A man named Latiya once used a magic spell to conjure a tiger and tigress out of a tree.

He did this because he wanted them to eat his unwanted, infant son. The tiger and tigress adopted the baby and raised him with great love and care. Now the tiger and tigress were aging and the boy started taking care of them. He learned to hunt and brought freshly food for them.

This simple story has resulted in an ancient bond between the Baiga tribals and the tigers. No Baiga will ever hurt a tiger.

Dear ones, we can learn from these ancient tales and prevent poaching of these noble animals which is happening wherever there are tigers.
