Where the Mind is without Fear.
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arm towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is lead forward by thee
Into that heaven of freedom.
My father, let my country awake. – Rabindra Nath Tagore, Nobel prize Winner.
This poem was written in the early 20th century and it depicts the political and social struggles of India during the period of British rule.
Today it is again relevant and contemporary as it continues to inspire hope for a better future. All of us must join hands and vow to make a world free of fear. Only then is it possible for us to save Mother Earth and ourselves.
