During the festival of Navratri, each day a different color is worn. The color represents its virtue and how it can influence one. I am adding a little more detail.
Day 1. Yellow. It radiates positive energy and uplifts the spirit. Thursday is for yellow.
Day 2. Green. It symbolizes nature and evokes a sense of growth, fertility, peace and serenity. Is also associated with Rama. Wednesday is for Green.
Day 3. Grey. It signifies strength, resilience and the ability to overcome obstacles.
Day 4. Orange. It bestows warmth, exuberance and positivity.it represents light and salvation. Hindu saints often wear saffron.
Day 5. White. It symbolizes purity and innocence. White is also worn on Mondays.
Day 6. Red. It represents devotion and reverence. It is also the color of Shakti, and Ma Durga is often depicted wearing a red sari. Tuesday is shades of red.
Day 7. Royal Blue. It symbolizes richness, tranquility and depth. Is also associated with Krishna, the God of love and divine joy. It also represents truth and mercy. Saturday is for Shani and is associated with dark blue or black.
Day 8. Pink. It fosters a sense of compassion and a nurturing nature. Friday is for shades of pink.
Day 9. Purple. It symbolizes opulence, richness and spiritual strength. It is also the color associated for Krishna.
Now what is interesting is that one can wear a navraten (nine gems) necklace daily. It is a luxury, if one buys the real gems. However, one can purchase substitutes, and if one has faith, they work. The nine gems’ mala work on our stars. They symbolize the celestial bodies and brin peace and stability in one’s life.

- Ruby, represents the Sun. Substitute is red garnet or spinel.
- Pearl represents the Moon. Substitute is moonstone.
- Red coral represents Mars. Substitute is carnelian and red agate.
- Emerald represents Mercury. Substitute is peridot and green tourmaline.
- White or yellow sapphire represents Jupiter. Substitute opal and zircon.
- Diamond represents Venus.
- Blue sapphire represents Saturn. Substitute is amethyst and blue topaz.
- Hessonite represents Rahu, the ascending lunar position in astrology. Substitute is Spessartite.
- Cat’s eye represents Ketu, the descending lunar position in astrology. Substitute is chrysoberyl.
Enjoy the colors and the most important thing is that one must have trust and faith in oneself which is bestowed by the Goddess.
