Meditation on Maha Lakshmi

The one, who always worships Lakshmi, Sri Kamala, the one who dwells in the lotus, Padma, the pleasing one holding tender lotus bloom in her hands, the daughter of the ocean, the one who carries the pot of nectar in her two hands, the goddess Ira and the beloved of Vishnu will ward off all miseries. – Mahalakshmi Stuti, Skanda Puran, verse 8

Vishnu Purana describes Lakshmi as the daughter of Bhrigu and Khyati and the ever-faithful consort of Vishnu. She is regarded as faithful as she was his consort in all his avatars. When he was Aditya, she took the form of the lotus (Padma). When he was Krishna, she took the form of Rukmini. When he was Parasuraman, she was Earth (Prithvi). When he was Rama, she was Sita. She was always at Vishnu’s side.

Lakshmi always resides in Vishnu’s heart and he resides in her heart. Their love is eternal.

Close your eyes and meditate upon Maha Lakshmi. Let your wonderment roam and gaze upon her golden self, with gold jewelry crafted by Vishwakarma, the master craftsman. See her as the dweller in the lotus and holding a fragrant lotus bloom. She rises from the ocean and she has the pot of amrit which grants immortality in her hands. Praying to her grants one material wealth and all miseries are warded off.
