According to Tantra we should be honest and true to ourselves. We can be anybody, a sage, or a criminal. This does not disbar us from seeking a spiritual life. What does this mean? The questions asked are what is a spiritual life? What reward do we get by its pursuit? What is the purpose of our life? Why are we here?
We know who we are but at the same time we are only aware of our gross selves. Then we start the practice of Yoga now. No renunciation of life style is required. And if we continue with the sadhana, there is no reason why we would not achieve spiritual awareness.
Our nugget is that if we practice with sincerity, we learn to be empathetic and compassionate.
The words of Swami Satyananda Saraswati on March 9, 1978.
