Be observant, attentive and tune in. You will be surprised how much you will hear and see. I walk in a park and where there are cats, birds, and squirrels. It is interesting to watch as there is a pecking order in the animals and birds. They are respectful of each other and are not pushing and shoving each other. I started bringing biscuits for them.
The first day a killing had taken place. A cat had eaten a pigeon and the feathers were lying about. No one came. In fact, I had asked someone who was asleep on my bench to get up. He was a young man and had been speaking on the phone earlier. I guess these are advantages of old age.
Then the next day, I sat down quietly, and they all came. The birds were grabbing the crumbs, and the squirrels were trying to take the crumbs away from the birds. This was very entertaining as it was not a fierce encounter. Some birds did not like the crumbs and they spat them out. So, the squirrels ate them. Now, they even come closer to me. The pigeons are dismissed with a wave of the hands.
What is your take on this? Well, it is such a wonderful feeling to sit in the sunshine in a green park and host a party every day. Try it and you will feel relaxed. I have seen people feeding sparrows, squirrels, and other birds everywhere in the world. Even if you do not feed any creature, just sit, look, and listen. My point is you are engaged in a neutral activity and your thoughts are suspended.
