820 – Gita Wisdom on Laughter

The Gita explains that when we laugh, we must laugh with others and not at others. Best to uplift others, while laughing with them. We are all souls who can find lasting love and joy at the spiritual level of reality. Seeing everyone as sentient beings, they understand that everyone shares the same essential joys and sorrows.

When we start practicing on spirituality, we may derive pleasure by scorning others, who are not on the same path. If we laugh at others, our actions are condescension, not our compassion.

Examine your laughter

When is laughing with others unhelpful, unkind and rude?
Are we being condescending or patronizing?

Laughter should bring joy to all of us.
