How do we understand the word search?
Finding a needle in a haystack. Its meaning is when something is difficult to find. Often there are many things to look and sift through. A wild goose chase. Its meaning when the search is a complete waste of time. Seeking something that does not exist.
Are we all not engaged in looking, searching and seeking? Do we know what we are looking for?
The fabled musk deer searches the world over for the source of the scent which comes from it. – Ramakrishna
Search for truth
The search for truth is in one way hard and in another way easy, for it is evident that no one can master it fully or miss it wholly. But each adds a little to our knowledge of nature, and from all the facts assembled there arises a certain grandeur. – Aristotle
Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. – Psalms 139:23—24 King James version (KJV)
Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favour -but evil comes to him who searches for it. – Proverbs 11:27
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter. But the glory of kings to search out a matter. – Proverbs 25:2
Seek refuge in the attitude of detachment and you will amass the wealth of spiritual awareness. The one who is motivated only by the desire for the fruits of their action, and anxious about the result, is miserable indeed. – Bhagavad Gita
Dear Ones, what are we searching for? We have to ask ourselves this question and what will we attain?
- Bright but hidden, the Self dwells in the heart.
- Everything that moves, breathes, opens and closes,
- Lives in the Self. He is the source of love
And maybe known through love but not through thought.
He is the goal of life.
Attain this goal! – Mundaka Upanishad
