What is skin pratyahara? It is an incredible practice and I would recommend it to persons, who have any skin problems. It is best practiced during Shavasana or Yoga Nidra.
How do we practice Charma Pratyahara?
You lie down on the floor on your back in Shavasana. Your feet are slightly apart, and your hands are facing upwards. You have minimum sensation with the floor as your palms are upwards, feet are not touching the ground. Only the heels are touching the ground. Your body is facing upwards, your eyes are lightly closed, lips are slightly parted, and your teeth are not clenched. Now you start feeling the contact points between your body and the floor. This is level one of the touch sensations.
The second is to become aware of the clothes that are touching your skin. Third you become aware of the texture of the objects. Some are rough, some are soft and so on. Each texture, each touch perception evokes a different response. You are now observing your body and the items by which the body is enveloped and the sensation at the moment. You become aware of the environment.
The temperature whether it is hot or cold. Feel the temperature in the different parts of your body. You may find that your head feels cold or your face is hot. You become accustomed to all these changes on your skin and body.
Your mind and body are still and undistracted.
