Heaven and Hell

A mind not to be changed by place or time
The mind is its own place, and in itself
Can make a heav’n of hell, a hell of heaven. – John Milton

Dear ones, how can we help ourselves? Our mind likes to be in charge and how is it in charge? It is in charge because it is full of thoughts, which are tugging at our feelings and emotions. It is compounding all our issues. We are beings led by our thoughts.

So, what do we do?

Step1: We close our eyes. We become aware of our breath. We breathe in and out, very slowly. Then we count our breath and we count backwards. We try not to make mistakes in the counting, it is either 27 times or 54 times.

Step 2: We inhale to the count of 5, pause to the count of 5, exhale to the count of 5, pause to the count of 5. We do this either 27 or 54 times. No errors in the counting.

Step 3: We close our eyes and concentrate on the Chidakasha. It is the space behind the eyebrow center. We look into it. We do not get involved with what we see. We may see nothing. We are spectators.

Step 4: We are now uninfluenced by our thoughts. We are in a state of equanimity.
