How to divorce Ego?

In Negombo, we visited the Reclining Buddha temple. I have placed some pictures. The paintings on the wall depict different aspects of his life. Buddha cutting his hair and he was being given his mendicant garments.

The next one is Buddha having a discussion with Ego. Look at it and see Ego’s face. Buddha is calm and Ego looks so fierce and angry.

Then Buddha’s son is holding his hand. Buddha is radiating peace and serenity. The one on top of this article is the Reclining Buddha after his enlightenment.

Dear ones, look at Ego’s face. Of course, he is outraged as he is full of himself. This is exactly what happens to us when our ego overtakes our thinking. Ego is not evil, but ego does affect our thinking. Ego guides one to be narcissistic, vain, conceited and self-important. One can be called an egomaniac, and one can become completely self-absorbed.

It is not easy to divorce oneself from ego, because our ego is so close to us. It aids and abets us. However, once we start becoming self-aware and conscious we can shed our ego.
