What do we know about Indra?
Indra is the regent of heaven. He rules over Svarga, which is a place of eternal bliss and divine splendored is associated with thunder, lightning and rain. He is also considered to be the guardian of Dharma and the east.
In Indra’s celestial abode a wonderful net is stretched in all directions and there is one glittering jewel at every node shining brighter than the stars because the polished surface of every jewel reflects all the other jewels; the reflection continues indefinitely, a beautiful metaphor of reality. The jewelled net is a hologram every part of which reflects all the information of every other part. All the other jewels are interconnected, each node representing a person reflecting the qualities.
The parable of Indra’s net is that Indra represents the power of nature and the heavens is enveloped in a huge net, the description of which is given above. The gems are different colors and radiate light. No gem is the centre, each one is the centre and each gem reflects the other gem, making it shine brighter and creating a space of harmony.
Save Mother Earth
Let us apply this parable to ourselves. We are all interconnected and our thoughts, actions and intentions ripple outwards, impacting all of life around us. We must first learn to change ourselves. We are closely connected to nature, it is a symbiotic relationship and heightening our awareness, will save Mother Earth and ourselves from a toxic environment.
Lastly, we must understand the teachings of our Gurus and practice atmabhava. It is love for our fellow beings which will bring about self-empowerment, and restoration of the Visva (universe).
Dear ones, now close your eyes and visualize Indra’s Jaal. You can practice every night and then feel Nidra overtaking you.
Namaste, Prithvi Ma.
