Open your hearts, dear ones

Because there is suffering in your heart, it is possible for you to enter my heart.

Thus spoke the Buddha.

Buddha repeatedly said that he only taught suffering and the transformation of suffering. When one recognized and accepted the suffering within one, then the Buddha in us will look at it and address it. He will find out the source, prescribe a course of action which will transform it into peace and liberation. Suffering is the means that the Buddha used to liberate himself and that is how we can become free.

Dear ones, do not be blindsided by distress. Happiness is present and we must not look for its absence. Enjoy the sunrise and bird song. Appreciate the beauty of nature. Smile at a child’s antics, admire the colors of the fruits and vegetables, the list of what gives one joy is endless. Recognize your suffering and become liberated.

Buddha Purnima is the annual celebration on the first full moon of the Hindu calendar in the month of Vaisakha. Vaisakha month is a month of immense consequences. Sage Narada confirmed this from Brahma. Vaisakha Masa (month) fulfills all desires to human beings just as a mother did to children. This period is very precious to Vishnu and confers several boons to those who deserve them. It is also a time of Dharma, Yagna, Kriya (noble tasks) and Tapasya.

In this month of Vaisakha, try to be self-reflective, self-aware and practice atmabhava. Let it become a way of life.
