The Will of God

As explained by Swami Satyananda Saraswati

God’s will is known as Divine will and is a universal reality. It is the most powerful force that conducts each and every activity seen as well as unseen. When one is attracted by maya one is led away from the Divine will. One becomes full of fear and anxiety. However, when one can transcend the barriers of the mind, one begins to realize the will of God, which is the destiny of all creation. Once one knows the will of God, then one knows how to manage one’s affairs and how to work.

If one is governed by personal desires, spiritual life is a distant dream. One is surrounded by problems. One has to be aware of the will of God and the universal aspect of life. Everyone is afflicted by difficulties, even if one is a spiritual aspirant.

The solution is to be on the Yogic path. There are many Yogic paths. Karma Yoga is living and expressing life dynamically and unconditionally. Bhakti Yoga is channelizing devotion to the Divinity. Raja Yoga is yoga of control over the psyche personality. Gyan Yoga is understanding the deeper secrets of universal life. Kundalini yoga is the yoga of awakening the dormant potential, the creative force in man. Yoga means all these different forms and one should combine all these forms in one’s life.

All is Thy Will

Thy will be done
Whether you raise me
To the height of spiritual glory,
Or you throw me down
Into the abyss of hell,
I accept it,
Readily, happily, with pleasure,
Because that is thy will
I am the chariot,
You are the charioteer.
I am the horse
You are the master.
Keep me as you like,
Use me, misuse me or abuse me,
I have nothing to defend.

Written by a great Bhakta.

This is the attitude of total dedication. One has to dedicate oneself to God’s will. A humble way of life with minimum requirements and a simple way of thinking is the Yogic philosophy. The rest of the time one should try to develop the awareness of one’s consciousness. Then the light will come.
