As a spiritual-religious community, the members of Yoga Vidya e.V. live the teachings of Vedanta and Yoga in all aspects. How these two pillars shape the self-image of Yoga Vidya e.V. as a spiritual-religious community with an educational mission is explained by Sukadev Volker Bretz in this video.
Yoga Vidya e.V. is a non-profit association with the goal of spreading yoga and serving people in many ways with this millennia-old religious teaching. Yoga practices such as Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, rituals and breathing exercises have a positive effect on the health of body, mind and soul.
Vedanta, with its reference to the Vedas and Upanishads, is the fundamental philosophy of Hinduism. Thus, the Yoga-Vedanta tradition is a comprehensive religious belief and worldview. It does not exclude other traditions and paths, but recognizes that there is one divine reality and that there are many paths to it. Therefore, it is possible to be a Yoga Vedantist and at the same time a Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Sufi, or follower of other religions.
