587 – Trust

Trust is a word used by us frequently and its meaning is very powerful. The first and foremost is ‘Trust in God’.

Noun: Trust means the belief that someone is good, honest and sincere. One would not be cheated or tricked by him/her. Trust also means that there is a legal arrangement by which a person looks after the wealth for somebody until they are of age.

Verb: to believe that someone is honest and will not cheat or harm one.
Trust is having faith, belief or confidence in someone.

We all have to have someone in our life who inspires us, and encourages us to discover something better. This being can be a parent, mentor, guru or friend. It can also be a holy place like a tirtha sthana which grants one inspiration when one visits it. A tirtha sthana is a powerful centre of energy. It can have different images of the deities. Varanasi, Madurai, Sarnath to name a few are such places.

What is distrust? Distrust is the first breakdown that happens in life when one starts brooding on one’s weaknesses and holding other people responsible for one’s actions.

Buddha’s quotes

Health is the best gift, contentment the best wealth, trust the best kinsman, nirvana the greatest joy. Drink the nectar of the dharma in the depths of meditation and become free from fear and sin.

Life is about balance, be kind, but don’t let people abuse you. Trust, but don’t get deceived. Be content, but never stop improving yourself.

In God, whose words I praise-in God I trust and I am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? – Psalm 56:4

By worrying all your energies are wasted. No useful purpose is served. So, give up all worries. Pray to God. All worries will end. – Swami Sivananda

Trust in God and s/he will take care of you. It is so easy if we let go of our doubts and fears. If only we could listen to our hearts.
