229 – Meditation on Satisfaction

An ongoing meditation practice will lead you to satisfaction and bliss, if you are undistracted and intent. It is a continuous practice.

When you wake up in the morning, visualize your body as a temple. Observe the changes, sensation of breath, tensions, the heartbeat, the intestines, and other movements in your body. Note the start of mental activity, the flow of sensations and emotions. Allow your awareness to flow back and forth. Walk barefoot on the floor and be aware of the sensations. Be aware of what you are drinking, hand squeezed juice, fresh coffee, and what you are eating.

Now when you leave your home for work, look up at the sky. Be present. Each time you do this with awareness, your breath is relaxed. Pause and breathe slowly, you will feel relaxed. When you find such pleasure in the present, then your happiness does not depend on exceptional circumstances. There is unity between body and mind.

By concentrating on the satisfaction of the mind alone, without any mental effort, meditation occurs. Good food, sex and joy can lead to heightened awareness. However the catch is to develop the intensity of the experience without the aid of the object. You must be master of the situation, without the presence of the inspirer of the passion.

This is a tantric micro-practice, enabling unity of the body and mind. It is taken from Sri Vijnana Bhairava Tantra.
