372 – Real Worship

What is real worship? Reverence and adoration for a deity.

According to the Bible, worship is the giving of our entire self, our thoughts and our emotions to God’s use. All of life is an act of submission, an act of worship.

Buddhists define puja as worship. It is an expression of devotion, respect, admiration and the love of something.

Hinduism defines worship as an individual act that involves making personal offerings to the deity.

Swami Sivananda said that living worship truly transforms and spiritualizes one more quickly and leads one on to the highest realization. To consecrate the divine mother in the holy alter of one’s heart, to manifest her divine power within and to live to serve and do good to all the best and the divine mother Durga.

“It is in love that religion exists and not in ceremony, in the pure and sincere love in the heart… External worship is only a symbol of internal worship; but internal worship are the real things. Without them, external worship would be of no avail… Try to remember this.” Swami Vivekananda.

„Try to treat with equal love all the people with whom you have relations. Thus the abyss between myself and yourself will be filled in, which is the goal of all religious worship.“ Anandamayi Ma.
