Life is life—whether in a cat, or dog or man. There is no difference there between a cat or a man. The idea of difference is a human conception for man’s own advantage. That which we call the Hindu religion is really the Eternal because it embraces all.
This quote is by Sri Aurobindo. He was a Yogi, seer, philosopher, poet and an Indian nationalist. He spoke about the philosophy of divine life on earth through spiritual evolution. The central theme of his vision was the evolution of human life into a divine life in a divine body. According to Sri Aurobindo: People say animals can’t think or reason. It is not at all true. Their intelligence has evolved to act only within the narrow limits of life, according to their own needs. But they have latent facilities which have not been developed.
He emphasized that the main aim of education was to promote spiritual development. According to him every human being has some fragment of divine existence, within himself. Education could scan it from each individual with its full extent.
There is nothing mind can do that cannot be done better in the mind’s immobility and thought free stillness. When the mind is still, then truth gets her chance to be heard in the purity of silence.
We find this recurrent theme in what our great Gurus say. All life is Yoga. (Sri Aurobindo) is what we must follow and this will lead us to spiritual awareness.
