450 – i carry your heart with me (i carry it in)

A poem about Radha and Krishna by E. E. Cummings.

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart) i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling) i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life, which grows
higher than a soul can hope, or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

This poem is considered one of the most beautiful poems about love. Is it about a beloved or is it the love Meera Bai had for Krishna? Then the bond of love between Lord Krishna and Radha was not physical, it was spiritual and a pure form of devotion. So, it is described as that Krishna and Radha are two different manifestations of the divine principle. The love Hanuman had for Rama. He bred his heart and Rama’ face was on it. It is said that when Rama’s name ceases to be chanted, Hanuman will be no more.

Close the gate of the senses. Shut the door of the mind.

Light the lamp in the inner chamber of your heart and stand face to face with the Lord. – Swami Sivananda
