Yesterday was our 53rd wedding anniversary and last night I said to my husband, how wonderful it would be if our feral cat family visited us tomorrow. I also added that it would be the best present. Well, this morning I heard a loud Miaow outside my bedroom window. It was 6am, I stepped into the balcony and lo behold they were waiting for me.
Let me share with you that this family does not come when I call them. They come when they please. They do not come into the balcony. I have to fling Meeow (cat food) for them on the ground. When I emerge after a couple of hours, the ground is swept clean of Meeow.
I am sharing their photographs. Snippy Swami – see above – is a marmalade cat with orange fur and he meows all the time. It sounds like a chant. Beauty, the mum is a cat with one blue and one green eye. Tiranga (means three colors) is their offspring, and he is called so because he has three colors.
There is a story that Shiva and Parvati are always flying on their bull, Nandi and they are constantly travelling. It is believed that if one wishes for something and they are flying overhead, your wish is granted.
I could have wished for there to be peace. It was a wonderful gift and I was so happy. One should not be greedy and one must live in the present.
