Expression of Rama’s sorrow

Rama recalls the events starting from exile–describes Sita’s beauty, virtues and gentleness–drifts back to sorrow–Lakshman tells Ram to think of a way of finding Sita. – Aranyakand 3.63.1

Dear ones, can you sense the sorrow of Rama, when he finds out that Sita has been abducted. He is sunk in sorrow when he describes her qualities.

Rama separated from his beloved, lost his senses out of sorrow. Seeing his brother in a distressed state, he sank again into intense grief. – Aranyakand 3.63.2

Rama’s anguish accumulates and he is drowning in a well of unhappiness.

O Lakshman, loss of kingdom, separation from kith and kin, death of a father, separation from mother–all these augments my sorrow faster and in great measure. – Aranyakand 3.63.5

He now enumerates his travails and how quickly his sorrow encompasses him.

The lady whose face was like the lotus, whose large eyes were like lotus petals could have gone to fetch lotuses! But that also is not possible as she has never gone without me. – Aranyakand 3.63.14

He recollects her beauty and compares it to Lotus. He wishes she had gone to fetch a blooming lotus but then he knows that she would have never gone alone. He experience immense heart ache.

O Sun God, you know all the happenings of the world. You are witness to all the deeds of the people true or false. Tell me where my beloved Sita has gone or has been carried off. My grief never ceases. – Aranyakand 3.63.16

Now he pleads to Surya to tell him where his beloved has gone. He implores Surya. He is experiencing heart break and anguish.

O wind God there is nothing that you know not in all the worlds. Do tell me if that lady of a noble race has been abducted or dead is on the way. – Aranyakand 3.63.17

He speaks to the Wind God, who knows everything. He beseeches him to answer his question.

This the description of love and grief of the highest order by a mortal, who is not aware that he is the incarnation of Vishnu.

Can you feel the sorrow in his entreaties? He is an innocent, who looks at everyone with love and respect? Can we feel grief like this?
