Detached loving

The Buddha spoke about it. It is very clear that one should love unconditionally. I find that I share detached loving with my cat, Beauty. Now I will share her details.

She is a wild and is an outside cat. Her family was abandoned. Her mother and father were imported from Thailand. One fine morning I saw them in my balcony. I had named the mother, Poppea after a Roman emperor’s mistress. Her husband was called Shani as he was jet black.

Shani is the name of the God for Saturday. We wear black or navy blue on Saturday. Their child is Beauty. Both Poppea and she have different colored eyes. Beauty being wild comes for her meal’s morning and evening. She has the Miaow of a Siamese. She never speaks to Deepak, my husband. She spoke once to me, when I returned from Germany.

Now the story starts, I look out for her. If she does not come, I am upset. As soon as I wake up, I check the balcony. Sometimes she comes, when I start playing the chants. Well, I am trying to practice detached loving with her. I know she is indifferent to me but I fret, if I she does not come. She makes me happy.

All of you, who are cat lovers must be going through a similar experience with your wild cats. You cannot touch her as she will strike you if you attempt. Both of us and my housekeeper have been slapped.

It is ironic that cats can teach us detached loving. We need to practice this with everyone.
