Shiva is powerless without Shakti.

Mother in the Vedic tradition appears as Kali, Lakshmi and Saraswati. These are three aspects of the Primordial Energy. Primordial energy is the existing energy even before the creation of the Universe. Mother is life giving, infinitely forgiving and compassionate. The sages proclaimed, “You alone are the mother, “and then “You alone are the father.”

Shakti is life. She is consciousness and knowledge. Until our inner awakening happens, we are just performing our routine activities and functions. It is vital for us to awaken our consciousness, which resides in all of us as the Kundalini, dormant in the Mooladhara Chakra. Until we awaken the kundalini, we cannot attain our spiritual potential which also includes the blessings we receive from Lakshmi and Saraswati.

Compassion, courage, forgiveness and strength

Shakti is represented in innumerable forms. She is Durga, who destroys obstacles; as Kali she slays time and ego; as Lakshmi she grants abundance; as Saraswati she bestows wisdom; as Tara she shows the path of knowledge; as Jagdamba she is the mother of all creations. We can worship her in any one of these forms and she will lavish compassion, courage, forgiveness and strength.

She is formless and yet takes form, she is matter and energy, visible and invisible. She is the very power that shines in the sun and moon, that pulses in every living being, in the rivers, mountains and stars. She is the cosmic mother and she is the mother, who gave birth to you. She is also the Kundalini Shakti.

Dear ones, let us meditate on the mother.

• Visualize her as you would like to.
• Visualize her as smiling with love and feel enveloped in her arms.
• Visualize her as being all forgiving and you are kneeling, in front of her with your forehead touching the ground.
• Visualize her in a cloak with the moon and stars woven into it. The Sun is shining with her blessings and her radiance is luminous. You are illuminated by her incandescence. You feel enveloped by her light.
• Visualize her as all forgiving, granting you blessings and the knower of your heart’s desire.
• Visualize her as an indescribable beauty, you can add the gems as her adornments and you close your eyes as you are overwhelmed by the vision.

Aim Hrim Klim
