323 – Why should we awaken our kundalini?

Awakening the Kundalini is the prime purpose of our birth. Kundalini is the sleeping and dormant potential force in us. It is situated at the root of the spinal column in the mooladhara chakra. In Tantra, our energy is called Kundalini shakti. Kunda refers to the concave cavity in which the Kundalini, resembling a coiled and sleeping serpent and when it is manifesting itself, it is called Devi.

When our Kundalini is awakened and we cannot handle it, it’s called Kali. When we are able to handle it and are able to use it for beneficial and spiritual purposes, it is called Durga – the super consciousness. The snake is a symbol of sleeping consciousness. Kundalini Shakti is the creative energy, and it is the energy of self-expression. The aim of the tantrik system is to bring about a fusion of Shakti – our individual consciousness with Shiva-supreme consciousness. Shiva is inert and when they meet, there is a fusion of the ultimate consciousness.

Learn the meaning of life

When the kundalini descends, it means that the lower mental plain of the human being is no longer influenced by the ordinary mind, the super mind takes over. When the Kundalini rules, illumination occurs in the brain and the individual is a self-realised person and is able to learn the meaning life.

We understand and appreciate the universe. The ida and pingala nadi flow and our mental and pranic consciousness are balanced and in harmony. They meet at the Ajna chakra. All our karmas, samskaras, frustrations, jealousies are contained in the nadis. Only when we have exhausted our karmas, the sushumna is awakened and our Kundalini ascends and descends.

Practice Atma bhava, love for our fellow creatures, give unconditionally and help all. Make it a way of life. It is the quickest way for ascension of Kundalini.
