And save the Cosmos.
Our cosmos is comprised of ether, air, fire, water and earth. I have written about each one of the elements and how each on of us and all living creatures and plants are composed of these elements.
We have a puja called Tattwa Shuddhi puja and in this sadhana we purify our elements. Each element has a mantra and puja dedicated to it. So how is it possible that we are hellbent on destroying our planet? We are polluting the atmosphere, air, water, earth and fires are destroying enormous tracts of land making them inhabitable.
Ether is the most powerful element. It is connected to sound and speech. Ether makes all movement and life possible. Ether is the very essence of emptiness. Within our body we can recognize the space element. It is where there is space; the sinus cavities that allow for our voices to resonate, the space in the lungs that fills the air and space in the stomach before a meal. Ether is connected to Visshudhi chakra. The Visshudhi chakra is connected to our process of communication.
Air is a dimension for movement. It is connected to our Anahata chakra and it is vital for us.
Fire is responsible for creation (life giver) and devastation (life taker). It is connected to our Manipura chakra.
Water is constantly changing its shape and it is connected to the Swadhishthana chakra.
Earth is responsible for our grounding. It is connected to the Mooladhara Chakra.
Panch Tattvas
The Rig Veda has emphasized the importance of the Panch Tattvas. It has maintained that the entire life systems on earth are based on harmonious functioning of these five elements.
We have a task ahead of us. Before we are too late, we have to become aware of how we are hurting our planet and all its living beings. But we must become consciously aware of our acts of omission and commission. Save earth by recycling water, fuel, and ridding the atmosphere of pollutants.
A daily chant of Om Lam – Earth, Vam – Water, Ram – Fire, Yam – Air and Ham – Ether (108 times) and as we do this concentrate on a visualization of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether.
