This story is about Mulla Nasiruddin and his wit and wisdom. He was a Turkish sage, who used very unusual teaching methods. I want to share one of his stories with you, my dear ones.
Nasiruddin taught his followers by playing pranks on them and telling them jokes. One day he was sitting near the village fountain, holding a pot which was badly cracked and therefore leaking. People around him were laughing and they asked him, “Why are you filling this leaking pot, as all the water is draining out.” He answered, “I am not concerned with the leaking, I am only concerned with the water leaking out of it.”
The lesson here is that teachers are putting too much information into the heads of their students, but the students are not retaining the knowledge. Therefore, the practice of Yoga, cleanses the mind and one’s brain is receptive to what has to be taught.
Yoga Sadhana creates an inquisitive mind which is not encumbered by leaking thoughts. It is the daily practice, which imposes a gentle discipline on one and this leads to spiritual awareness.
