Collective Moral Compass

Now the festive time is here and the good will season is there for all of us. We are enthusiastically looking forward to each festival and celebration. Are we aware of what the reasons for the festivities are? They are celebrated not only for our joy and delight but to awaken our moral compass.

There is an underlying message and that is the triumph of good over evil. This tone is present in all the festivals. Diwali, the festival of lights is celebrated with lighting of lamps, feasting and fireworks. Prayers are offered to the Goddess of Wealth. However, the Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus and there are church services and gifting and feasting.

Dear ones, we forget that kindness, compassion and giving are an essential and constant part of our life. We can go through life without thinking about others and letting our desires and ego over rule us. The festivals are reminders and are truly meant for illuminating us through hope and giving.

It is a time to examine our moral compass. Our moral compass is defined; by our internal guidance which is a set of beliefs; judgement of right and wrong; moral and spiritual values.

The ritual of the festivals is very charming; however, we cannot be influenced by the rituals alone. It is our inner evaluation of ourselves and how we can become connected with others is vital.

Collectively we can work on our moral compass and bring about change, bearing the festive season in mind.
