Be a Stoic. Follow the four cardinal virtues. The four pillars of Stoicism known as the cardinal virtues are Wisdom, Justice, Courage and Temperance. These pillars serve as a practical framework for living a virtuous, happy (eudaimonic) life by focusing on what is within our control—our thoughts and actions while managing emotions and acting ethically for the common good. Lucius Seneca was a stoic philosopher of Ancient Rome. I am sharing some of his quotes with you.
If you really want to escape the things that harass you, what you are needing is not to be in a different place but to be a different person.
We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.
It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it maybe, without wishing for what he has not.
Applying these quotes in our daily life, can help us to become fearless, empathetic and tolerant of others and ourselves. We can also add what our Gurus say that is associate with people who are likely to improve us (satsang). Seneca said the same thing and added that one should live in harmony with nature, then one will never be poor; if one lived according to the way others think, one will never be rich. Only time can heal what reason cannot.
