There is trouble in the body, trouble in the tongue and troubles in the mind. Having renounced these troubles, I live happily in life’s supreme goal. – Astavakra Gita Chapter 13, Verse 2
However, by practicing penances, the body becomes free, the tongue becomes free by reciting the scriptures and the mind becomes free with meditation.
This leads to self-realization, which only happens when this process is applied. It is a period of struggle and then complete inactivity comes with complete self-realization.
The body is exhausted with practice, the tongue tires with the scriptures and the mind become numb with meditation. Only detachment leads to living as one is.
Realizing that nothing is done,
I do what comes
and am happy. – Verse 3
Becoming devoid of the ego and feelings, the body and mind work and remain unattached.
Yogis who preach
Either effort or no effort
Are still attached to the body.
I neither associate nor disassociate
With any of that
And am happy. – Verse 4
If one is connected to the body, then certain rules have to be followed, but if one is realized, then rules have no meaning.
