Meditation on Sri Ma

Bhuvaneshwari as the mother can be worshipped through the mantra Ma, which is the natural sound for mother. Ma can be used for the divine mother in all her forms. The Divine Mother is called Sri Ma (respected, beautiful or resplendent Mother).

Bhuvaneshwari is located in all space. It can be said that we are always in Bhuvaneshwari. She is the space within the heart, in which all the universe is contained. The heart center on the right side is the seat of self-awareness. It is not just the Anahata chakra. So, the Queen of the universe is always within us.

Bhuvaneswari is resplendent. She is the color of the rising sun, with the crescent moon on her head. She has four hands and three eyes. She holds in two hands the noose and the goad. With her other two hands, she gives the boon that grants wishes and dispels fears.

Her modesty

Sometimes she is shown carrying a lotus and a pot of gems. She is seated on a couch like throne, which consists of the five forms of Shiva. She directs all movements of the universe from her throne. She is surrounded by attendant deities, Gods and Goddesses, who obey her commands.

Her mantra is Hrim. It is a single syllable. It is called the Devi Pranava or the equivalent of Aum. Hrim refers to the heart (Hyrdaya), and it also relates to Hri which means modesty.

Hrim can be used for all ten wisdom Goddesses. It is also the main mantra of the Sri Chakra.

All my worship can be performed with the mantra Hrim. Of all mantras, Hrim Is regarded as the supreme guide. – Devi Gita (XII.28)

To gain the creative force of Bhuvaneshwari one should hold all one’s creative energy inside oneself. One should offer it inwardly to the Goddess, so that she can form it in whichever way she wishes. To become empty, motiveless and open before truth is to honor her.
