We love potatoes in all forms. I would imagine it is one of the most liked tubers. It is widely classified as a starchy root vegetable. I remember thinking that the perfect meal was lentils and fried potatoes with rice or Indian bread as a child.
So now we come to meditation and how important it is to be aware when one is involved in a task. We are looking at karma yoga and it is identical as to how Zen describes performing a simple task.
Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel potatoes. – Alan Watts
What does this mean? It means that one must be present and deeply engaged with the task in hand.
Avoid multitasking and over analyzing. Focus on the act of peeling the potatoes. Do not worry about why you are doing it or what you will do next.
