A story from Sikkim about two rivers. The tale goes that two rivers as lovers were created by the Goddess Ibn-moo. The names of the rivers were Rangeet and Rongnyu also known as Teesta.
When they descended on earth, they decided to have race to Peshok, where they were destined to meet. Rangeet was guided by distracted, singing bird so he lost the race. Rongnyu was guided by a calm and responsible snake. Rangeet was a sore loser and in his rage, he flooded the valley.
The Tendong hill, through great effort manged to raise himself above the raging waters and he saved the people of Lepcha. The lovers were reunited with the blessings of the Goddess Ibn-moo. They flow side by side across the plains, meeting and parting lovingly and serenely.
The people of Sikkim even today, celebrate the festival of Tendong Lho Rumfaat (prayer to Tendong mountain).
This tale is about love, losing and loyalty. The two rivers were lovers, but Rangeet was an angry loser and the gentle Tendong hill because of his love and loyalty to the people of Lepcha, saved them.
Can we say that all is fair in love and war. Give it a thought dear ones.
