No difference exists between the formless God and the God of form. Thus speak the Vedas and Puranas, the Munis and the wise. The same formless, unseen, unborn and attribute less God takes the form impressed by the love of the devotee.
Worship of God means that one sets one heart on any aspect of God that attracts and satisfies one, which means that it is within the grasp of one’s limited awareness. And this awareness stirs one’s feelings and sustains one’s interest. Whatever one worships and meditates upon seeps into one’s inner being.
It casts an indelible imprint on one’s consciousness, which passes from birth to birth. One may remain a villain, a bad character in the present lifetime, but there is every possibility of reaching and realizing one’s ideal Ishta devata (personal God) in some birth sooner or later.
Thus spoke Tulsidas.
