Many say that our guru is within us. It is true but we need a switch to activate us, and this switch has to be switched on. According to Swami Niranjanananda, we have a bulb within us, which has wires. What is required is that there has to be a connection. There has to be no short circuits or carbon so that the electricity can flow.
This electricity is the prana, energy which must flow spontaneously and naturally clearing the blockages. Learning how to maintain the wires is only possible through the Yogic system and with the instructions of the Guru. One does not know where the switch is located. It may be in the intellect for an intellectual person, in the heart for a devotee, in the unconscious mind for the spiritual person, and in the daily life experiences for a vital person. This where the Guru steps in and tells one to turn on the switch.
“The one who has the power of transmitting this current is called a Guru.” Swami Vivekananda
“The Guru is the bright mask which God wears in order to come to us”. Swami Vivekananda
