A harmonious self

It is wisest to be impartial. If you have health, but are attached to it, you will always be afraid of losing it. And if you fear that loss, but become ill, you will suffer. Why not remain forever joyful in the self? – Swami Yogananda

A harmonious self is far more valuable than an unhappy self. Ill health can affect us anytime, but do we have to brood about it and dwell on it. One has to understand that it is our thoughts which are influencing us and when that happens, we begin to think that we are victims. The question which come up is: “why me”?

Actually, it is a lesson, because every time when one is not ok, one connects to one’s inner self. One’s inner self is one’s closest friend and one must listen to the real voice. The inner voice says that remain a witness and concentrate on getting well. Be compliant with the medicines and treatment. You will find a visible change in yourself and it also awakens the feeling of Atmabhava, love for your fellow beings. Because you think about others also.

It is amazing, how an illness can make us aware and reflective. If we see the stories from our ancient scriptures, ill health brings one closer to the Divinity.

Dear ones, I am only reflecting upon what our Gurus say. Take care and eat wisely. Remember it has taken you 84 million births to be born a human. Do not waste your prana and remain a person living in equanimity.
