Argala Stotram means to open the argala, which is the impediment or bolt to seek the blessings of the Divine Mother by chanting the Stotram.
Roopam Dehi Jayam Dehi, Yasho Dehi, Dvisho Jahi. This verse is chanted at the end of each sloka.
Give the form, give the victory, give the glory, kill the enemies.
I bow down to the Goddess, she grants victory, fame, and conquers hatred, hostility, enmity and anger within me. Once one has turned away from the internal enemies which pull one down. One finds the spiritual path opens up. Roopam refers not to name, form or beauty but to Prabha Valaya. Prabha Valaya means Aura, which refers to the halo of light above the head of the deity. Prabha means radiance and Valaya means Nimbus. Without this, no spiritual growth is possible.
Roopa means beauty as well as form. The reciter asks the Divine Mother to reveal her indwelling presence as the beauty of self-knowledge. Next the refrain requests the assurance of success in spiritual endeavoring other words the victory over the deluding power of maya. With such victory comes glory—a state of spiritual bliss—as well as the destruction of all force’s hostile internal and external to the Sadhaka’s effort.
I have extracted this quote from Devimahatmyam, (Argala Stotram). The Devimahatmyam means in praise of the Goddess. It is read and chanted daily during the Navratri. Its message is that one must confront the demons of ego within one. One must dispel one’s mistaken identity of who one is. The Divine Goddess is the creator of Maya. She is the creator of the immense misunderstanding, and she alone enables one to gain victory over Maya and connect to one’s inner Divinity.
Dear ones in these auspicious times become aware of your fragilities and only the compassion of the Mother can rescue us from our self-destructive thoughts and fears.
A visualization practice
Close your eyes. Visualize the Goddess as Mother of all protecting us. She is beautiful, with a Nimbus. She is riding a tiger. She is fierce in her love for her children. You can see her as Kali, Lakshmi or Saraswati. She is all three.
Be sincere in your meditation.
