Dear ones, how does one treat time? I will share a secret with you. This secret can be revealed to you only if you practice your sadhana daily.
I have been treated very well by time, because I have so much of it. I do not have time anxiety as I go with a relaxed state of mind. I am not thinking of all the things I have to do. It is amazing when one understands this, because then you go from one activity to another calmly.
I came into this knowledge about time because I learnt Yoga and understood the concept of daily practice. I did not tell myself that I must perform my sadhana daily. I found I could not practice at a fixed time, so I went with the flow. I reduced my stress and practiced when I could. I am not engaged in self-praise, but I learnt that I could do everything as long as I did not pressurize myself.
How I came to Yoga
I was very young, when I learnt Yoga and I came to Yoga because of my arthritis. I was the mother of twins, who were three years old, and had a cat. My husband went to work and came back late. Well, when the arthritis started, I was angry and upset at being helpless. I am left-handed and it was my left hand. So, you can imagine how difficult it was.
One of my friends suggested that I go to the Ashram as she had been going and it had helped her. We lived in this town, Munger where the Bihar School of Yoga Ashram was. I accompanied her and I met Swamiji. He looked at me and then told one of the Sannyasin’s to teach me. I was given one of the best teachers in the Ashram. Her name is Swami Satyadharma. She is no more. However, after two days, I found that I had changed. I was learning Pawanmuktasana and I was going every day. I found that I was able to manage my life. Somehow, I was now having time on my hands.
Time is a created thing. To say, ‘I do not have time, ‘is like saying ‘I do not want to.’ – Lao Tzu
If you knew Time as well as I do,’ said the Hatter, ‘You wouldn’t talk about wasting it. – Quote from Alice in Wonderland
Be comfortable with time
Well, my life changed with Yoga and the blessings of my Guru. I would like to gift you the understanding that you have time on your hands. Never be frantic as you will accomplish your goals and be able to enjoy trivia as described by the Walrus in Alice in Wonderland.
“The time has come,” the walrus said, “To talk about many things: of shoes and ships—and sealing wax—of cabbages and kings—and why the sea is boiling hot— and whether pigs have wings.”
Just perform your daily sadhana and let your thoughts leave you. You are the Boss of time.
