Om Shrim Shriye Namaha
Om and salutations to the creative abundance that is the very form of this universe.
This mantra activates the Kriya Shakti. Activating Kriya Shakti involves sadhanas like yoga, meditation and specific breathing techniques.
Indra states in his hymn of praise to Lakshmi, called the Maha Lakshmi Ashtakaam, that though she is the divine consort of Vishnu, she is also the power of Shiva manifesting through Parvati. When the churning of the oceans (Samudra Manthan) took place in search of the Amrit for immortality by the celestials and Asuras, it was the great Kriya Yoga of Lakshmi which was invoked.
So powerful were these efforts recommended by Shiva, that the physical universe was created and Lakshmi emerged. Fourteen Ratnas emerged from the Manthan. To name a few, Moon (Chandra), Divine Cow (Kamadhenu), the wish fulfilling tree (Kalpavriksha), and the Goddess Lakshmi. These can be understood as various spiritual attainments. Finally, the emergence of Dhanvantari, the divine Physician, with the Amrita symbolizes the end of the spiritual journey.
The spiritual interpretation of Samudra Manthan is understood as the internal struggle and effort, which is required to overcome negativity, purify the mind and attain enlightenment. The Amrita represents the realization of one’s true nature and immortality (in the context of transcending one’s limitations).
The connection to Kriya Yoga is that the techniques stimulate the flow of energy through the central nervous system. This can be seen as churning the inner ocean of consciousness to purify it and release its potential.
Chanting Om Shrim Shriye Namaha fills the environment with positive energy, creating a harmonious and auspicious environment.
