Divinity Meditation

Dear ones, close your eyes. Place a Yantra or a Mandala of your choice at eye level if possible or on the table or altar. A yantra is a spiritual, geometrical design. And a mandala is a spiritual artwork, typically in a circular, radial form that incorporates the image or symbol of the divinity.

Can you see it, in front of your closed eyes, or in the chidakasha, the space behind the eyebrow centre? Become aware of your breath, your inhalation, your exhalation and the pause in between and after exhalation. No effort and after a while you will become aware of the two pauses. Give it five minutes. Now practice breath awareness. Count backwards from 54. 54 I am breathing in, pause, 54 I am breathing out, pause. No errors or you will start again. Keep in mind that you are also gazing into the chidakasha.

Feel the kindness

You are focussed on your breath and posture, which is sitting with the spine straight. Practice Bhairavi, Bhairavi1, Chin2 or Gyan3 mudra. Mentally repeat the mantra for the Divinity. You may use a Mala, and practice 10 rounds. Deepen your connection to the divinity. Visualize the divinity in the heart space. Feel the kindness, love and compassion overflowing from the divinity. It is your choice as to how you see the divinity. You can see a Yantra, mandala or see the divinity in all her/his splendour. You are absorbed in the divine presence. You do not have to ask for anything, it will be given to you. Unconditional awareness and concentration.

End the prayer meditation, with either chanting Aim Hrim Klim or Aum three times.

Aim Hrim Klim

1 Bhairava or Bhairavi Mudra: Bhairava mudra is a yogic, hand gesture where the right hand is placed on the left hand, with both palms facing upwards and hands resting in the lap. It balances the body’s energy flow, integrating opposing energies. Bhairavi mudra is when the left hand is placed on the right hand.

2 Chin Mudra: It is a Yogic hand gesture which is formed by touching the tip of the index finger to the tip of the thumb, while keeping the other fingers extended. The palms are facing down. It promotes and internalizes spiritual awareness.

3 Gyan mudra is a Yogic gesture similar to Chin mudra but the palms are facing upwards. It focuses on receptive meditation.
