Where is my home?

How do I stay in my home? How can I be at peace in my home? Do I define my home as being materially comfortable or is my home my internal spiritual abode? Where is my home?

According to the Gita, the home is not a physical dwelling but an inner, spiritual sanctuary in Krishna. It is achieved by detaching oneself from material desires and cultivating an unwavering devotion and remembrance of the Divine. The inner home provides internal security, solace and rejuvenation that transcend the impermanence of the material world. Devotion to Krishna leads to a true, inner home. It is accomplished through spiritual practices.

The key bunch for finding one’ home are with one. Self-awareness is essential as one must be a witness to one’s actions. Being detached leads one to watching an activity neutrally. This detachment then becomes a part of one and balance is attained. Balance grants one harmony which leads to compassion. A yogic life composed of daily sadhana, and reflection enable one to find one’s home within oneself.

Swami Sivananda viewed the home as a spiritual center, a temple of the lord, where every action should be a form of service and every word a mantra. He emphasized cultivating a home environment filled with purity, kindness and respect, where family members practiced yoga, meditation and scripture study. He also suggested having an altar or a sacred space for prayer and self-reliance in daily life.

Dear ones, your home is within you and following the wisdom of the Gita and the Guru, you can be at peace with yourself and always be in your home. Be conscious and aware. Therefore, my home is within me. I will never be homeless because I am spiritually grounded and connected to the Divine.
