540 – The synergy between the Mother and Rama

Chaitra Navratri signifies the creation of the universe and the beginning of the universe and beings. Durga Ma was engaged in the procreation of the world and therefore this festival is considered to be the beginning of the Hindu year. It also demonstrates the synergy between Devi and Rama. What is our role and how can we celebrate Chaitra Navratri with our hearts and souls.

First of all, let us comprehend the explanation of this most powerful mantra, which is called Dharani. Dharani means assistance, first one praises the deity with all humility. We have to understand that we must be genuine and transparent. The Goddess is benign and compassionate. She sees through us. Then in an imperative mode we ask for victory. Who does not demand from one’s Mum? What is the victory that we are seeking. Victory over our sins and accumulated karma. Then we request for glory, which means attainment of ecstasy in our spiritual endeavor. The Divine mother then reveals her divine presence within us and we attain self-knowledge.

Right knowledge

The emphasis is on uccatana which means the slaying of our inner demons, overcoming the temptations put before us by our ego which create obstacles to attain right knowledge.

Devi always remains in the heart of those who remember her.

During the Navratris, we worship the Cosmic Mother in her three forms, and since she is our Mother, she will take care of us.

In Chaitra Navratri, the birthday of Rama is celebrated on the ninth day. Our worship of Devi has purified us and our habitat and then Rama came in the form of a mortal to save the universe from the power of evil.

Let us work on self-purification 24 / 7. Become aware of our thoughts, attempt to remove negativity and become zealous in our pursuit of equanimity. Make it a way of life.

Swami Sivananda said,

Let Sri Rama be your ideal. Ideals are remembered and adored for the purpose of adapting them in your own life. Rama Nama, is saying the name of Rama. It burns ignorance, passion and sin. With knowledge or without knowledge, correctly or incorrectly, the word, Rama is repeated, it showers a rain of good on the devotee.
