836 – Masculinity and Femineity

We believe that in the creation of the universe, God revealed two aspects of himself, Male and Female. The male was considered Purush, wisdom and space. Female was Prakriti, nature. Neither could survive without the other. Space is everywhere and wisdom is hidden in it. However, there is no creation. The creation occurs with Father Purush and Mother Prakriti or Shakti. Both Purush and Prakriti unite within us and in the cosmos for the wonderful universes.

It is incredible that this year, the celebration of Maha Shivratri coincides with International Women’s Day, which is a fixed date.

How can we make changes in ourselves? It is not just a token. We celebrate Shivratri as it is a sacred time for compassion and spiritual awareness. It is believed that on the night of Maha Shivratri, Shiva performed the cosmic dance of Tandava. Tandava symbolizes the rhythmic creation, preservation and destruction of the universe.

International Women’s’ Day is a day to remind everyone that there is gender equality to create a better society free of gender bias and empowerment of women. Women are associated with Shakti and therefore they must become conscious of their inherent prana and become fearless.

Dear ones, I can only add that we are creations of Prakriti and Purush, so on Maha Shivaratri and International Women’s Day we must pray to the Cosmic couple as they are truly liberated and are generous in their munificence and compassion.

Meditating on both Shiva and Parvati, will grant us spiritual enlightenment and harmony.
