Understanding the Divine Feminine

From woman man is born,
Within woman man is conceived,
To a woman he is engaged and married.
Woman becomes his friend,
Through woman future generations come, when his woman dies
He seeks another woman,
To a woman he is bound,
So why call her bad?
From her kings are born,
From woman, woman is born.
Without woman there would be no one at all. – Guru Nanak

We must honour the Divine Feminine, which is in all of us. Shakti symbolizes power—divine force that creates, sustains and evolves. Shakti is the essence of existence.

Adi Shankaracharya in Atamshatakam wrote, ‘I am Shiva,’ identifying eternal, formless, consciousness that transcends all boundaries of time, space and form. He did not limit the understanding of Shiva to a particular gender. He recognized that divinity and higher knowledge are accessible to all, regardless of gender.

The teachings of the Upanishads echo this universal truth, asserting that Brahman, absolute reality, is all pervasive. It cannot and does not discriminate between genders. If God were limited to one gender, it would not be the eternal truth that the Upanishads state.
