571 – I have found a treasure chest

I have been writing a daily blog as you my dear ones are aware. It is a troubled time. Cost of living has risen. The weather is unpredictable. In India, we are becoming toast and here we are freezing. There are air, train and bus strikes. We look around and life after Covid has changed for all of us. Continue reading

525 – Atmabhava makes us dear to God

Quotes from the Bhagwada Gita,

One is dearest to God who has no enemies among the living beings, who is nonviolent to all creatures. I look upon all creatures equally; none are less dear to me and none more dear. But those who worship me with love live in me, and I come to life in them.

He alone who truly sees the Lord the same in every creature… seeing the same Lord everywhere, he does not harm himself or others.

Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely. Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, loving and full of desire to serve… Learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation. Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all. Cultivate vigour, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then you will achieve your destiny.

503 – Sarvatmabhava

Swami Satyananda Saraswati wrote:

The Vedas, Upanishads, rishis and munis have told us that atmabhava, sympathy and feeling oneness with others, identifying with their woes is Sarvatmabhava, all-encompassing affection for the creatures of the whole world.
God is here and now among human beings. Look for him where he is most needed, not in the temples where people are pouring their wealth on his idol. That God is very rich but the God living among the poor and the down trodden in the guise of a lame or blind person is needy. Go and look for him in destitution, hunger and poverty. Peace of mind is there in the temples but that is not the ultimate in life. You have to search for God. You have to find him in alleys, lanes and houses. This is the duty of saints, holy people as well as house holders. It is the duty of humanity.
Even though I practiced many hard and intense sadhanas I found that I was stationary. Only when a trace of atmabhava awakened within me that I started moving on the spiritual path.

496 – Can we learn from Ants?

This is the second article I am writing about ants and I was amazed at what I read. Here you can find the first article. This research is documented, and my reaction was that why are we so selfish and why do we not look beyond our own well-being? We should be inspired by this ground breaking study and take care of not only our loved ones but of humanity. Continue reading

255 – Slowly, Friend Slowly

Slowly friend,
Slowly, slowly.
Come to the house where I live.
None is the way
And no light to guide you
Inside or outside, only darkness,
Full of faults from the ages past.
Come to the house where I live.
Walk in the border of darkness,
Autumn, spring, summer, and winter.
You have caught hold of the robe,
Awaken the truth.

Slowly, slowly.
Come to the house where I live.
Many are the pitfalls along the way.
Many are the difficulties that you will face.
Blind darkness envelopes you on every side.
Come to the house
Slowly, slowly.
Gone are the sins of the past.
With free and fearless mind
Become the flower of humanity.
Throw your petals of light
To all those need, but
Slowly, slowly.
